Temenos Retreat

Temenos Retreat sits at the corner of Bree and Voortrekker Streets, McGregor, near Robertson in the Western Cape. The history page says Billy Kennedy bought the ruin in 1996 and opened the retreat on 1 February 1997 with friends in the Chapel of the Little Way. The original 1856 clay homestead is now the restaurant. Reception@temenosretreat.co.za sits in the footer of that same history page. The garden holds, as printed there, an Inner Temple of the Heart, an Angel for Lost Children, a Buddha with prayer flags, a Well with meditation cushions, a library, a stone labyrinth, a stupa to St Teresa, the Little Way chapel, and a small chapel to Ganesha. The accommodation page prints fourteen cottages, all ensuite, with private patios and a fireplace, and fully equipped for self-catering. Dinner, bed and breakfast packages and a garden restaurant are also offered. Library suites are Jamil, Iona, Avila and Lisieux, quiet Georgian rooms by the garden library. Garden cottages around the duck pond are Assisi, Carmel, Subiaco and Santa Chiara. Spiral cottages Athena and Beulah sit by The Well. Veritas is a two-bedroom cottage with kitchen and living room.
