01 - Arrive

The place itself

Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve is a five-star, eight-suite lodge on a hill in the western Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, South Africa — unfenced from Kruger National Park so wildlife moves freely. Owners Louis Kruger and Jack Brotherton opened the lodge in March 1998 on Ululapa Farm (in the Kruger family since 1983). Traversing is published at over 10,000 hectares, including the Sand River to the north and savannah plains to the south. Each of the eight glass-fronted, air-conditioned suites (16 guests) has a sundeck and a private plunge pool. The lodge asked us to be precise: those plunge pools are not heated, and there is no infinity pool. Spa treatments are on site in the glass-walled massage sala off the main pool deck — not in-room. The on-site spa lists facial treatments, African Rungu massage, hot stone therapy, deep tissue massage, manicure and pedicure, Indian head massage, and an anti-stress back treatment. Wellness treatments are excluded from the published room rate. A gym looks out over a waterhole. Game viewing is the core stay: morning and late-afternoon drives for the Big Five, leopard sightings the reserve is known for, optional walking trails, a Shangaan boma, wine cellar, library, and curio shop. Duncan and Louise Rodgers are listed as Operations Director and General Manager. 2026 published tariff on leopardhills.com/rates is R 26,300 per person sharing or single (first single suite in a reservation has no supplement; further singles 50%). 2027 is listed at R 28,400. Confirm live rates when you book. MindReach does not take inventory or commission. Reservations: reservations@leopardhills.com / +27 11 326 0739.
