Arrival at West Lake
Drive into the County via the limestone roads that lead to West Lake. The Sandbanks dune ridge visible across the water as you arrive at the resort. The private beach sets the tone: sand, lake, and the massive dunes behind.
Sandbanks by kayak
Collect a kayak from the resort beach and paddle across West Lake to the Sandbanks. The world's largest freshwater barrier dune system, with kilometres of sand and the particular silence of a place that has no motor traffic. The water temperature in West Lake is warmer than Lake Ontario.
West Lake afternoon
Return to the resort beach for afternoon swimming and paddleboarding. The sheltered inland lake is calm and safe, ideal for all ages. The Sandbar Lounge is steps from the water for post-swim drinks and the gradual transition to evening.
The Knoll dining with lake views
Dinner at The Knoll overlooking West Lake and the Sandbanks. A seasonal Ontario menu, local PEC produce, and the stone fireplace and cathedral ceilings that give the dining room its lodge character.
County wine day
Drive or cycle into the PEC winery corridor. Wellington, Bloomfield, and Hillier are within 30 minutes. The County's natural wine producers and artisan cideries make for a very different wine touring experience from Niagara or Okanagan.
