The place itself

Bondi Village Resort is a family-owned housekeeping cottage resort on Lake of Bays, located at 1260 Fox Point Road in Dwight, Ontario. Ten minutes from Algonquin Provincial Park and surrounded by 600 acres of private wilderness woodland. Established in 1905 by Joseph Tapley, who named the property after Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia (where he had worked with Gilbert and Sullivan on the comic opera stage), the resort has operated continuously for over a century and is now in its fifth generation of family ownership. The current hosts. Brian and Carol, David and Megan, Piper and Beatrix, and Nancy. Continue the Tapley family's tradition of informal, family-centred hospitality on Lake of Bays. The property features over 400 metres (1,200 feet) of private sandy beach and waterfront on Lake of Bays, boat rentals, and a working organic garden and free-range hen operation that preserves the original pioneer farm heritage of the site.   1. Drive to Dwight on Lake of Bays

    The route via Highway 60 through the Muskoka corridor to Dwight is one of cottage country's classic drives. The lake vistas, the rock cuts, and the forest setting signal arrival in the Muskoka Highlands well before the resort gate.

  2. Walk to the private sandy beach

    Bondi's 1,200 feet of private sandy beach on Lake of Bays is the first and most persuasive thing about the property. Joseph Tapley named it after Bondi Beach for a reason. The sand is genuine, the swimming is excellent, and the beach has been unchanged since 1905.
