The Cecil is the Mall, and Wildflower Hall is the forest. That is the whole choice in Shimla. This hotel is at Chaura Maidan, close enough to walk to the Ridge and Christ Church, and it does not pretend to be a cedar estate. There is no butler. A valley view is a named room. The drive from Chandigarh is four hours on the travel note and three hours in the text. Come if the town and the old ballroom dining room are the stay. Skip it if you wanted the whirlpool in the forest. That is the other Oberoi, and it is a drive.

The place itself

The Oberoi Cecil is at Chaura Maidan, Shimla 171004. The hotel phone is +91 177 280 4848. It sits at the quieter end of the Mall. Shimla was the summer capital from 1863. The travel note puts Chandigarh airport at 122 kilometres and four hours. Another paragraph says three hours by car from Chandigarh. Ask which applies. They do not print one room total. Categories run from a Deluxe Room to a Premier Valley View Room and a Luxury Suite. A balcony with a mountain view is on select rooms, not all. Their FAQ says there is no butler service. The hotel is non-smoking, with one outdoor place to smoke. Pets are not allowed. The Restaurant runs 7:00 am to 10:30 pm, with breakfast until 10:30 am, lunch 12:30 to 3:00, and dinner 7:00 to 10:30. Cedar Garden, with grills and Himachali dance, is 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Check-in is 2:00 pm. Wildflower Hall is 15 kilometres up the hill. Christ Church is a walk. Jakhoo Temple is about 30 minutes by road. Reserve with the hotel. MindReach does not take the booking.
