ITC Grand Central, Mumbai
Mumbai luxury is still assumed to mean Colaba or a sea-facing tower in the south. ITC Grand Central is in Parel, on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, and it says so with the architecture: a tower that borrows the Rajabai Clock Tower's pyramidal roof and the mill land around it. The 242 rooms and the Zero Carbon certificate are the practical lines. The meals are specific. Kebabs and Kurries, Dakshin, Dublin, and Hornby's Pavilion are four different nights, and Hornby's looks onto the mill square rather than the harbour. Come if central Mumbai, and that food, are the plan. Skip it if you wanted to walk to the Gateway of India.
