The Leela Palace Jaipur
The palace is not in the Pink City. It is at Kukas, on NH 11, about an hour from the airport, on eight acres. The reason to make that drive is the room they used to call Mohan Mahal and now call Jamavar: more than 350,000 hand-cut mirrors, gold leaf, a handwash before the meal, and an all-women service team. A plunge pool belongs to the Royal Villa that says so. Come if the mirrored dinner is worth an hour from the airport and a further ride to the old city. Skip it if you wanted to walk to the City Palace, or if you wanted Lake Pichola. That is Udaipur.
