The Oberoi Vindhyavilas

Tents with gardens, and villas with pools, four hours from Jabalpur, beside a park they describe as one of the densest for tigers.

Our read

Vindhyavilas is a safari hotel whose arrival is the decision. Jabalpur is about four hours, and the park is minutes from the resort once you are there. A tent has a garden. A villa has a pool. Those are different bookings. They put the tiger density of Bandhavgarh at the centre of the page, and one line says the reserve holds over 150 tigers. That is their figure, not a promise you will see one. The lakeside bonfire runs from October to March. The fort opens twice a year. Come if the drive and the dawn drive are the trip. Skip it if you needed Ranthambhore, where the station is ten minutes, or a pool in a tent.

Come here for

  • A dawn drive in a park they describe as unusually dense with tigers
  • A villa with a pool, booked as a villa and not as a tent
  • October to March, if the lakeside bonfire is the evening you want

Skip it if

  • You are connecting through Jaipur. This park is a four-hour drive from Jabalpur.
  • You wanted a pool tent. The pool is on the villa.

We’d rather send you somewhere else than send you somewhere that doesn’t suit you.

01 - Arrive

The place itself

The Oberoi Vindhyavilas is at Bandhavgarh, Madhya Pradesh 484665. The hotel phone is +91 7627 351000. They do not print one tent total. They do print two kinds of stay: a Luxury Tent with a private garden, and a Luxury Villa with a private pool. The shared pool is 18 metres. Jabalpur airport is about 180 kilometres and four hours. Umaria station is closer. They describe Bandhavgarh as holding one of the highest tiger densities, and one page says the reserve has a population of over 150 Royal Bengal tigers. A sighting is still not a booking condition. The Bush Kitchen is dinner, 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm, regional Baghelkhand food. Bonfire by the lake is open for dinner from October to March. The fort inside the park opens only twice a year. Pets are not allowed. Smoking is outside the tent, in the garden. Check-in is 2:00 pm and check-out is noon. This is not Ranthambhore, and it is not a 28-tent Oberoi. Reserve with the hotel. MindReach does not take the booking.
