01 - Arrive

The place itself

Hideaway Huts is run by Holly and Andy at Treworgey Farm near Duloe, Cornwall. Two traditional shepherd's huts sit at opposite sides of the 150-acre family farm, each in its own secluded spot with long views over the Looe River valley. They are comfortable and warm: proper beds, log burners, private bathrooms. The real luxury is the quiet. No neighbours, no noise, just Cornish countryside. The Shepherd's Hut, on the eastern side of the farm, is their original hut. Full-size pocket-sprung double with Soak & Sleep linen, twin gas hob, firepit, solar lights, log burner with logs included, and a wood-fired hot tub with valley views. Private bathroom hut about twenty yards away. Close enough for Treworgey Cottages facilities (heated outdoor pool, riding school, tennis) without feeling overlooked. The Lambing Hut sits in its own field. Same warm setup inside, outdoor bath raised on the deck for valley views with a glimpse of the ocean, private bathroom a few steps away. The site notes a complete re-fit and availability from July. Both farm huts sleep 2, with space to pitch a tent for up to 2 children, and one well-behaved dog is welcome. Usual minimum two nights; three nights in July and August. Holly and Andy also manage bookings for the Watch House, a 19th-century coastguard lookout on National Trust cliffs near Polruan, about six miles from the farm. Completely off-grid aside from mains water: no electricity, no phone signal, twenty-minute walk from the car park with a wheelbarrow provided. Log burner, gas oven and hob, gas fridge, flushing loo, outdoor shower. Sleeps up to 5. Bedding is not included. They ask guests to bring sleeping bags or duvets and linen. Usually three nights, and shorter stays on request.
