Kempinski Hotel Hangzhou
If you ask for Hangzhou, most people hear West Lake. This hotel answers with a different water. It says the southern end of the Grand Canal, and it counts 336 rooms there. That is the decision. A dawn on the lake is a different address, and the page does not pretend otherwise. What you get instead is a dining list that is unusually specific for a new city hotel: Kitchen@K for the day, Frieda, Zi Chen for Chinese food, Berthold Delikatessen, and a lobby lounge. The spa line matters too. The hotel says it was developed for Hangzhou, not dropped in from a global menu. Come if the canal is the Hangzhou you want, or if the meetings are on this side of the city. Skip it if the willow walk on West Lake was the whole point.
