Hamilton Island, Australia

qualia

Pavilions at the northern end of Hamilton Island, some with plunge pools, looking over the Coral Sea.

Our read

qualia publishes the island as a set of choices you can book: which pavilion, which pool, which restaurant, and a helipad if the reef is the point.

Come here for

  • Hamilton Island with a pavilion, not a hotel corridor
  • A reef trip that starts from the resort

Skip it if

  • You want a city hotel
  • You want to be in Airlie Beach

We’d rather send you somewhere else than send you somewhere that doesn’t suit you.

01 - Arrive

The place itself

qualia is on the northernmost part of Hamilton Island, with the Great Barrier Reef around it and views they describe across the Coral Sea and the Whitsundays. The stay is arranged as pavilions, not a tower. They publish two main pavilion types and a few houses beside them. Leeward Pavilions are a hideaway with tropical bush and sea views. Windward Pavilions have private plunge pools. The Beach House has its own 12-metre infinity pool and a private guest house. Their stay menu also names Seaward Pavilions, a Sunset Pavilion, and The Residence. Joshua Hingston is the executive chef they name. Long Pavilion is the restaurant set among eucalyptus, looking out to sea. Pebble Beach is the restaurant on the sand. Spa qualia sits in the middle of the resort. They also publish a private helipad, a library, and reef trips, including a helicopter flight to Heart Reef and a sail toward Whitehaven Beach. Email guestservices@qualia.com.au. Book on qualia.com.au. Rates are on their site.
