People book Lion Sands and then arrive in the wrong camp. River Lodge is the one with eighteen rooms on the Sabie, in Sabi Sand, where the rooms sit close together and the river is the shared view. A private pool is not the default. It belongs to the four river suites. A child under 10 is not on the twice-daily drive. Narina, which looks similar in a photograph of trees and water, is inside Kruger and does not take children on safari at all. Come if you want the busier riverside lodge, and if everyone in the party is at least 10. Skip it if you wanted a pool at every door, or the Kruger concession rather than Sabi Sand.

Lion Sands River Lodge sits on the Sabie River in the south of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The lodge page counts 18 rooms and suites along the water. The 2025 Lion Sands fact sheet splits them: eight luxury rooms at 581 square feet, six superior luxury rooms at 840 square feet, and four river suites at 883 square feet, including one family river suite at 1,324 square feet. A private plunge pool is listed for the river suites, not for every room. The phone printed with the lodge manager is +27 13 735 5000. The same sheet pins the lodge at 24°58'16.9"S, 31°31'55.4"E, and gives Skukuza Airport as about 25 minutes away. This is the social camp. The fact sheet gives the distance between rooms as 0 to 8 metres, and it lists a central guest pool. Children are accepted from 10. Ages 10 to 15 are half the adult sharing rate if they share with an adult, and the twice-daily drives are for guests over 10. Narina Lodge, nine suites on stilts, is inside Kruger National Park on a different pin, and its fact-sheet age line is 16. Ivory Lodge, eight larger suites, is the quieter Sabi Sand neighbour.
