## Our read

Mumbai luxury is still assumed to mean Colaba or a sea-facing tower in the south. ITC Grand Central is in Parel, on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, and it says so with the architecture: a tower that borrows the Rajabai Clock Tower's pyramidal roof and the mill land around it. The 242 rooms and the Zero Carbon certificate are the practical lines. The meals are specific. Kebabs and Kurries, Dakshin, Dublin, and Hornby's Pavilion are four different nights, and Hornby's looks onto the mill square rather than the harbour. Come if central Mumbai, and that food, are the plan. Skip it if you wanted to walk to the Gateway of India.

## Come here for

- 242 rooms in Parel, for a Mumbai that is not Colaba
- Kebabs and Kurries, Dakshin, Dublin, or Hornby's Pavilion
- A tower that quotes the Rajabai Clock Tower, on a Zero Carbon hotel

## Skip it if

- You wanted the Gateway of India as a walk.
- You need a nightly rate on the page. It does not print one.

## The place

ITC Grand Central stands at 287 Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, Parel, Mumbai 400012. The phone is +91 22 2410 1010. Check-in is 15:00 and checkout is 11:00. The hotel says it has 242 rooms, including suites, and that it is Mumbai's first LEED Zero Carbon hotel, as well as LEED Platinum. The tower is a quotation: the hotel compares its 30 storey form and pyramidal roof to the Rajabai Clock Tower and the High Court, and the brick to the Secretariat. Parel is the old mill district, not the Gateway. Dinner has names. Kebabs and Kurries, Dakshin, the Irish pub Dublin, and Hornby's Pavilion, the all-day room named for Governor William Hornby and looking onto what the hotel calls the Millsquare. Point of View is the lounge with a city panorama. Kaya Kalp is the spa. The page does not print a nightly rate. A South Mumbai heritage hotel is a different pin. Reserve with the hotel. MindReach does not take the booking.
