The useful fact is the old name. This building was The Middle House, and it is still at 366 Shi Men Yi Road, off West Nanjing Road, not a new tower with a borrowed reputation. The room names are sizes, and a terrace is printed as its own key, so Studio 60 and Studio 60 with Terrace are different bookings. The table that has kept a Black Pearl One Diamond for seven years is Sui Tang Li, Chef Tony Ye, not the café. Café Gray Deluxe is the European room on the third floor. Come if Jing'an and that Chinese kitchen are the trip. Skip it if you wanted the Chengdu courtyard and the vegetarian star. That is a different house.

The site still titles it as formerly The Middle House, in the Dazhongli neighbourhood, just off West Nanjing Road. Rooms are named Studio 50, Studio 60, Studio 70, and Studio 90, and a terrace is a separate category: Studio 60 with Terrace is not Studio 60. Apartments run from Apartment 55 to Apartment 110, again with and without a terrace. They do not print one total for every key on the page we read. Sui Tang Li is Chef Tony Ye's Chinese room, on the second floor of the apartments, and the hotel is marking seven years of a Black Pearl One Diamond with a set menu for two. Café Gray Deluxe is the European café on the third floor, with a lounge and a terrace. A terrace, a Black Pearl table, and a European café are three different reasons to cross Jing'an.
