Haitang Bay has plenty of hotels that face the South China Sea. The Sanya EDITION adds a second sea. The Private Ocean is a man-made ocean on a 50 acre site, and it is the water you meet before you decide whether the real beach is the plan. All 501 rooms in the horseshoe claim an ocean view, and the 12 hillside villas add private pools. The meal that most changes the day is Xianhai by the Sea, because you go by boat. Come if that water, and that boat, are the reason to be on Haitang. Skip it if you wanted Yalong Bay, or a small villa hotel further down the coast. Those are different drives.

All 501 guest rooms in the horseshoe-shaped hotel have ocean views. Twelve villas sit on a terraced hillside with ocean views, private pools, and pavilion spaces. Dinner is a map, not a single restaurant. Market at EDITION is the warehouse-like room, recalling Sanya as a trading port. The Jade Egret serves European food with Asian flavours. Xianhai by the Sea is the seafood restaurant, and the hotel says you take a boat to it. Beach Barbacoa cooks Indonesian food on the beach. The spa is more than 2,000 square metres on two levels.
