## Why it is Chosen

Off-grid cabins on Big Eutsuk Lake. You get there by boat, or by a float plane you arrange.

## Our read

A Cheslatta Carrier Nation resort of off-grid cabins on Big Eutsuk Lake. The comfort is a wood stove and a shared shower, not a spa, and the day is the lake.

## Come here for

- People who want to fish a lake with no town around it
- Guests who will cook, bring bedding, and use a shared shower house
- A plan that includes arranging a boat or a float plane

## Skip it if

- You want a restaurant, a spa, or a road to the door
- You need a cabin rate printed before you open their calendar
- You want meals and a guide. Those are marked coming soon on their site, not offered now

## The place

Pondosy Bay is a Cheslatta Carrier Nation resort on the shore of Big Eutsuk Lake, inside a BC Park. The cabins are off-grid. The season on their booking calendar runs from 1 June to 7 September: arrive at 3:00 PM, leave by 10:00 AM. Guests bring bedding, soap, towels, and garbage bags, and take their garbage when they go. They name bear, moose, loons, wolves, beavers, and caribou as the animals of the place. A helicopter pad is for emergency evacuation, not a way in.

## What it is like

- The shore: Log cabins with green roofs sit in the trees above the beach. A dock holds boats, and a float plane is moored there in the photograph.
- A cabin: A log cabin with a small porch, a chimney for the wood stove, and the lake behind the trees. The porch is set up for cooking outside.
- On the lake: Fishing is the day they advertise. This frame is a guest in an aluminum boat with a trout, a net, and fuel aboard.
- The water: Taken from a boat: still water, forested slopes, and snow on the ridges. This is the view the rentals are for.
- From a porch: The beach, the dock, and the float plane, seen from the steps of a cabin, with a snowy peak past the trees.
- After dark: A fire pit in the trees, with the resort name cut into the metal. Chairs around it. No restaurant, no programme.
